Nutritional And Allergen FAQs

Q. Which allergens can be found in Krispy Kreme shops?

A.    Our shops contain products that include common allergens. All of our doughnuts contain soy and wheat. Some products contain eggs, dairy and nuts. Our newest doughnut (debuting 7/24) contains peanuts and other ingredients made with peanuts. We list all allergens that may be found in our shops in accordance with the Food Safety Manufacturing Act.

Q.   Do you have procedures in place to prevent cross-contamination?

A.    We train our team members on and follow National Restaurant Association and ServSafe sanitation practices, but there might be trace allergens in our products.

Q.   Why have you gone away from being nut-free?

A.    Shops have the option of not selling certain doughnuts, but our shops are not “nut-free.” While some shops do not have products with nuts on the menu, we are not “nut-free”. We receive ingredients from suppliers who produce products with nuts and other allergens. Following national safety guidelines, we take many steps to clean machines and surfaces in our shops, but there is the possibility that trace allergens might be found in our products. As a result, we post and label known allergens and ask guests to make sure they check the post before entering our shops and labels before consuming.

Q.   Where can I find more information on allergens at Krispy Kreme shops?

A.    Information is available in our shops and online at KrispyKreme.com/menu. You may also call 1-800-4KRISPY.

Q.   Can you accommodate guests with allergies?

A.    Guest safety is our top priority. We take many steps to clean machines and surfaces in shops; however, our products include known allergens such as egg, soy and wheat, and may contain other allergens, such as milk and nuts, as well as traces of other know allergens. As a result, we post and label known allergens and ask guests to make sure they check the post before entering our shops and labels before consuming.

Q.   Is it safe for my child with a nut sensitivity/allergy to consume products from Krispy Kreme shops?

A.    Guest safety is our top priority. As Krispy Kreme shops do contain known allergens, our guests should assume that all of our products have come into contact with ingredients such as peanuts, tree nuts, soy, milk, eggs and wheat. As some allergies can be very severe, we suggest guests with allergy or intolerance concerns consult with a health care professional before consuming our products.

Q.   Can I eat here if I have a nut allergy?

A.    Krispy Kreme shops contain known allergens, including peanuts, egg, soy and wheat. Our guests should assume that all of our products have come into contact with these allergens. Guest safety is our top priority, and, as some allergic reactions can be very severe, we suggest guests with allergy or intolerance concerns consult with a health care professional before consuming our products.

Q.   Why are some shops nut-free and others not?

A.    Shops have the option of not selling certain doughnuts, but none of our shops are “nut-free”.

Q.   Do all of your products contain allergens?

A.    Yes. Our doughnuts contain egg, soy and wheat, and select products may contain dairy. Our new Reese’s® doughnut contains peanuts and ingredients made with peanuts.

Q.   Why is Krispy Kreme Doughnuts abandoning its nut-free status?

A.    While we offer many doughnuts that do not contain nuts as an ingredient, we are not “nut-free”.

Q.   What is Krispy Kreme Doughnuts doing to help families and individuals with nut allergies?

A.    Guest safety is our top priority and we understand introducing a product containing nuts comes with special considerations. While shops are asked to clean all machines and surfaces after doughnuts with nuts are made, we cannot guarantee all our products will be free from trace allergens. We understand reactions to some allergies can be severe and will take every step to communicate potential risks to our guests, including in‑shop signage and employee training. We also have shared with our CPG customers that the Reese’s doughnut contains peanuts and peanut ingredients.

Q.   How does this affect Krispy Kreme Doughnuts’ fundraising or school partnerships?

A.    We are continuing all existing partnerships, but guests should always be aware of any allergies and intolerances among the people for whom they are purchasing products. In addition, schools and other community partners should be aware of the many fundraising options that are available. To learn more about these options, we ask you to visit www.krispykreme.com/fundraising or contact your local shop at www.krispykreme.com/locate.
